KATHMANDU: An Air India flight preparing to depart from Kathmandu to New Delhi was evacuated and inspected Monday afternoon following a reported bomb threat.
According to DIG Dan Bahadur Karki, the Spokesperson for Nepal Police, a search was conducted on the aircraft after it was reported that a bomb had been planted in the aircraft. “There have been recurring bomb rumors on flights coming from India to Nepal. No suspicious items have been found so far,” Karki said.
Jagannath Niraula, the general manager of the Tribhuvan International Airport Civil Aviation Office (TIA CAO) confirmed that Air India flight AI-216, which was carrying 158 passengers, was thoroughly inspected after authorities received information of a bomb threat from India.
