KATHMANDU: Nepal is holding its men’s football league from March 3.
All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) fixed the new dates after holding a discussion with top flight clubs on Thursday. The league will be held in a double round-robin format which means clubs will play with each other twice.
The association had earlier decided to hold the league from January 10 and had asked the clubs to register by December 22. But the clubs had said they
won’t register unless they receive a preparation fee from ANFA. This forced ANFA to work out new dates for the country’s top league.
ANFA has decided to provide clubs Rs 2.5 million each as a preparation fee. It, however, is yet to pay one instalment of last season’s preparation fee to the clubs.
Sources say ANFA will have to pay clubs Rs 1.5 million in the first instalment.
Nepal’s men’s league features 14 clubs including two sides promoted from ‘B’ Division League – Church Boys United and Khumaltar Youth Club. Chyasal Football Club and Brigade Boys Club were demoted to ‘B’ Division last year.
