KATHMANDU: All three individuals arrested for investigation into the Bansbari land scam have been released from custody.
The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police had arrested Arun Chaudhary, chairman and managing director of CG Holdings; Ajit Singh Thapa, the former chairman of Bansbari Leather and Shoes Company Ltd, and Sanjaya Thakur, the director of The Chandbagh Residency for an investigation into the alleged registration of 10 ropanis of land belonging to the shoe company as private property.
Initially, the Kathmandu District Court granted the CIB a four-day remand. However, when the CIB presented the three individuals to the district court on Monday, the court instructed the police to detain them for questioning for two days and release them afterward upon signing a promise to appear if needed, stating that there is no risk of the accused fleeing.
