Minister for Home Affairs Om Prakash Aryal
KATHMANDU: Minister for Home Affairs Om Prakash Aryal has said that all preparations for the upcoming House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5 have been completed.
Speaking to Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), the state-owned news agency on Tuesday, Aryal urged voters to participate in the polls without fear.
“The government’s main priority and agenda is to hold the elections on time. The Election Commission (EC) has completed almost all necessary preparations for the polls,” Aryal said, adding that only procedural tasks related to voting remain.
Aryal claimed that security arrangements for the elections scheduled have been made extremely robust.
Under an integrated security plan, the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and the National Investigation Department personnel have already been deployed. He said command posts from the central to district levels are continuously analyzing security challenges.
Stating that sporadic clashes reported in some parts of the country will not affect the elections, Minister Aryal said such incidents remain under the control of the home administration.
He also stated that prisoners who had escaped and weapons looted during the ‘Gen Z’ movement do not pose any security threat.
“Most of the weapons have been recovered, and the majority of the escapees have been brought back into custody, he said, adding that there have been no reports of criminal activity from those still at large.
