KATHMANDU: Allrounders Dipendra Singh Airee and Kushal Malla left for the United Arab Emirates on Friday to participate in the International League T20 (IL T20).
Gulf Giants have signed Airee, while Malla is playing for Desert Vipers. Both Malla and Airee led their receptive teams Chitwan Rhinos and Sudurpashchim Royals to the play-offs of the inaugural Nepal Premier League (NPL) in Kathmandu last month. While Airee has been off the field after losing to Janakpur Royals in the final of NPL on December 21, Malla played two two-day Jay Trophy Men’s Elite Cup matches for Tribhuvan Army Club.
IL T20 features a total of six sides- Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, Desert Vipers, Dubai Capitals, Gulf Giants, MI Emirates, Sharjah Warriors
This is Malla’s first participation in an international franchise league. Dipendra, however, was signed by Gulf Giants last year as well.
Desert Vipers will begin its IL T20 campaign with a match against Abu Dhabi Knighriders on Saturday, while Gulf Giants will play against Sharjah Warriors on Sunday.
