POKHARA: A Beechcraft B200 aircraft of Aerothai arrived in Pokhara on Saturday for calibration flights.
The aircraft will make a series of calibration flights at the newly-built Pokhara Regional International Airport from Monday.
“The plane came to Pokhara from Nepalgunj airport,” Anup Joshi, the spokesperson for Pokhara Regional International Airport, said.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), the aircraft will test all the equipment installed at the airport for several days to ensure that they are working perfectly.
The calibration flight will affect some domestic flights at Pokhara Airport it will be affected because of the calibration flight. The Civil Aviation Office Pokhara has already notified airline companies about this by issuing NOTAM.
NOTAM is a notice issued by airports to pilots about potential hazards that may affect flights.
According to the office, flights to and from Pokhara will operate before 10 am and between 1:00 pm and 2:30 pm only. Different airline companies operate scheduled and chartered flights to Kathmandu, Jomsom, Bhairahawa, Bharatpur, Dhangadhi, and Nepalgunj from Pokhara.
The Pokhara Regional International Airport will be ready to operate test flights only after a report of calibration flights is submitted. The airport will be ready for commercial flight operation after the test flight is operated successfully.
The 4D category airport has a 2,500-meter runway that can handle aircraft up to Airbus A320 or Boeing B757.
