KATHMANDU: Five persons including the pilot died in an Air Dynasty helicopter crash in Surichaur of Nuwakot in Kathmandu on Wednesday afternoon.

The Airbus AS 350 FX II aircraft with registration 9N-AJD was heading to Syafrubesi, a small town near Nepal-China, border from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu. The aircraft took off from Kathmandu airport at 1:54 pm and went out of contact after three minutes, according to Dr Bhishma Bhusal of the command post at the home ministry.

The aircraft was carrying four Chinese nationals – three male and one female. According to the passenger roster, Jutad Tang, Jie Li, Yiyad Wu and Zemin Zie were in the chopper. Captain Arun Malla was flying the aircraft. Captain Malla was with Air Dynasty for more than one and a half decades.

Rescue workers have recovered five bodies from the crash site, according to DSP Tilak Bharati of the District Police Office, Nuwakot.

This is the second fatal air crash in the country in two weeks. Earlier on June 24, 18 persons died when a CRJ 200 aircraft of Saurya Airlines crashed near the runway of TIA.
