KATHMANDU: The government has transferred AIG Kiran Bajracharya from the Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police to the Nepal Police headquarters.
The decision was made during the cabinet meeting held on Friday. The cabinet also decided to appoint AIG Shyam Lal Gyawali to CIB.
Although the report of the gold smuggling study commission has not been made public, AIG Bajracharya has been accused of not bringing some people involved in gold smuggling under the scope of the investigation.
Similarly, the cabinet has decided to study and implement the commission’s report seriously, according to the government spokesperson and Minister for Communication and Information Technology.
The government formed the high-level commission under former high court judge Dilli Raj Acharya on October 1 last year after the opposition parties blocked house proceedings demanding an investigation into the smuggling of gold via Tribhuvan International Airport. Former AIG Sahakul Thapa and former joint secretaries Kishor Jung Karki and Prem Raj Joshi were the members of the commission.
The commission submitted its report to Deputy Prime Minsiter and Minister for Home Affairs Rabi Lamichhane on Thursday.
