KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has said that there is a possibility of the country recording above-average rainfall in most parts during the upcoming monsoon season.
Speaking at a program on upcoming monsoon conditions in Kathmandu on Monday, Sudarshan Humagain, a meteorologist with the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, said there is a possibility of 35.4% to 55.4% more rainfall than average in most areas.
According to Humagain, the northwestern region of Sudurpashchim Province, the southeastern region of Bagmati Province, the central region of Madhesh Province and the mid-western regions of Koshi Province are likely to receive 35.4%-65.5% more rainfall than the average precipitation this monsoon.
Similarly, there is the possibility of 35-45% more rainfall than the average precipitation in the western region of Karnali Province, the central region of Gandaki Province, and the northeastern region of Koshi Province.
Despite heavy rains, there is a 35-65.4% possibility of minimum temperatures remaining higher than the average in most parts of the country.
