BUTWAL: Nepali Congress and CPN-UML have requested the Lumbini Province Government to not shift its capital to Dang without readying necessary infrastructure.
Issuing separate statements on Sunday, they said their attention has been drawn toward the preparation of the province government to shift capital from Butwal. They have asked the province government to not expedite the process of shifting provincial capital without making needful preparations.
In the statement, president of NC’s Rupandehi district committee Ram Krishna Khand said that the new government should be allowed to oversee works related to the shifting of the province capital. “The rush in shifting province capital readying infrastructure can affect service delivery,” he added.
Similarly, the Rupandehi district committee of has said that the decision to shift the province capital without readying infrastructure like province assembly and residence of staffers was wrong.
Province government staffers too have protested the decision.
The Shankar Pokharel-led province government had decided to shift province capital on the banks of Rapti River in Deukhuri Valley.
