KATHMANDU: Gold prices rose by Rs 3,000 per tola (11.664 grams) in the domestic market on Monday.

According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association (Fenegosida), gold is trading at Rs 281,500 per tola.

The price of gold fell by Rs 11,700 per tola on Sunday, when the market reopened after a five-day closure for the Dashain holidays.

Gold was trading at Rs 290,200 per tola on October 19, when the Dashain holidays began.

International gold prices fell to their lowest level in more than two months on October 22 amid concerns over inflation, with the metal sliding 2.4% to $4,041.39 per troy ounce, according to Reuters.

Nepal relies entirely on gold imports, making domestic prices sensitive to movements in the international market.

The price of silver, which fell 5.49% to Rs 3,955 per tola when the market reopened after Dashain holidays, however, remained unchanged on Monday.
