KATHMANDU: Kojagrat Purnima was observed on Sunday evening with prayers and rituals dedicated to Mahalakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity.
Mahalakshmi was worshipped in households across the country on the occasion, which marks the final day of the Durga Paksha, or Bada Dashain festival.
The 15-day Dashain festival concludes on Kojagrat Purnima as devotees worship Mahalakshmi and stay awake throughout the night.
According to the Nepal Panchanga Nirnayak Samiti, all ritualistic offerings prescribed by religious scriptures, known as Akhil Balipurti, were also completed on Sunday.
With the completion of these rituals, the tradition of receiving tika and jamara as blessings from elders, which begins on Bijaya Dashami, also comes to an end.
