KATHMANDU: Ambassador Shmulik Arie Bass and other Israeli staff members cast their votes at the Embassy of Israel in Kathmandu on Thursday.

According to a statement issued by the embassy, the ambassador and the embassy staff exercised their democratic right to vote in the election of a new Knesset (Israeli Parliament).

Following the completion of voting, the sealed ballot envelopes will be flown to Israel and sent to the Knesset for counting of the total votes, according to the statement.

The legislative elections are scheduled to be held in Israel on October 27.

“Today is a special day- the Day of Democracy in Israel. After several years, this election is taking place in accordance with the law, exactly four years after the last parliament, as it should be in a democratic state,” Ambassador Bass said in the statement. “Today, we are voting for a new parliament. I am exercising my right to vote, as a citizen of a democratic state.”
