KATHMANDU: A Chinese trekker has been found dead in the Everest Region.
According to the Khumbu Climbing Center (KCC), the body of the female trekker was found on October 6 between Phortse Thenga and Tashinga on the Gokyo Lake trail. “She took a shortcut trail and fell approximately 250 meters from a cliff,” the KCC said in a social media post on Thursday.
The identity of the deceased has not been disclosed. It is also not clear whether the trekker was walking to or returning from Gokyo Lake.
The body was recovered on Wednesday by KCC instructor Lhakpa Gyaljen Sherpa and gym manager Danuru Sherpa in coordination with the Nepal Army, Nepal Police and local government authorities.
The KCC has urged trekkers to use designated trails and follow local safety guidance while travelling in the mountains.
