KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index snapped a two-day losing run, closing 11.96 points higher at at 2,578.73 points on Tuesday.
The benchmark index moved into the green right after trading began on Tuesday morning and remained in positive territory throughout the session. Of the scrips traded on the day, 169 advanced, while 95 declined and 15 remained unchanged.
Despite Nepse’s gain, total turnover fell slightly to Rs 3.13 billion. A total of 8.95 million units were traded through 41,607 transactions.
Among individual stocks, Trishuli Jalvidyut Company Ltd logged the largest gain of 5.11%. Salapa Bikas Bank Ltd and Hathway Investment Nepal Ltd followed, with gains of 3.77% and 3.65%, respectively. On the other hand, Sarvottam Paints Industries Ltd posted the biggest loss of 4.94%. Next were NIBL Growth Fund and Chirkhwa Khola Hydropower Ltd with losses of 4.44% and 3%, respectively.
Ghalemdi Hydro Ltd topped the turnover chart with total transactions of Rs 239.18 million. Next were Liberty Energy Company Ltd and Himal Dolakha Hydropower Company Ltd with turnovers of Rs 139.15 million and Rs 97.52 million, respectively.
Out of 13 trading groups, 11 posted gains, while the remaining two ended in the red. The Trading sub-index posted the biggest gain of 0.82%. The Microfinance and Non-life Insurance sub-indices posted nominal losses.
