Cabinet decides to forward Regmi panel’s report to home ministry

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to forward to the Ministry of Home Affairs the report of a committee tasked with studying whether criminal cases filed in connection with the Gen Z movement can be withdrawn.

“The cabinet meeting held on Monday decided to send the report submitted by a committee, led by former judge Baburam Regmi, to the home ministry for necessary action,” government spokesperson and Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel said.

The cabinet also approved a grant assistance of around Rs 100 million from the Norwegian government for a program aimed at promoting clean energy transition in municipalities.

Likewise, it approved the Nepal Engineering Service (Formation, Group and Classification and Appointment) (Second Amendment) Rules, 2026, and the Alternative Development Finance Mobilization Rules, 2026.

According to Pokharel, the cabinet also decided to promote Joint Secretary Padma Kumar Mainali to the rank of Secretary under the Nepal Engineering Service group and appoint him to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Development.
