Golden jewlery recovered in garbage dump

KATHMANDU: Police have recovered 89 units of golden jewelry from a heap of garbage in Phungling of Taplejung district.

The golden jewelry was packed in a sack and hidden in a heap of garbage, according to DSP Kailash Rai, chief of District Police Office, Taplejung.

Police say the jewelry could have been hidden by the four robbers that they had detained with 143 tolas (1 tola is equal to 11.664 grams) of golden jewelry and Rs 613,340 in cash.

Ambar Kumar Shrestha of Kanchan Money Transfer filed a complaint at the police a few days ago, saying that he has been robbed of 348 tolas of gold and Rs 1,163,250.
