KATHMANDU: A Sita Air aircraft narrowly escaped a major incident on Thursday morning while landing at Juphal Airport in Dolpa after one of its tires detached during touchdown.
According to the Armed Police Force, the aircraft took off from Nepalgunj at 7:57 am for Juphal. While landing at Juphal Airport at around 8:25 am, the tire on the rear right side of the aircraft came off.
There were 16 people on board, including crew members and seven foreign nationals.
All passengers and crew members we safe, and no other damage was reported.
Sita Air, a STOL operator, has a fleet of four Dornier DO-228 aircraft.
