NC completes ward-level convention in 43 districts

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has completed ward-level conventions in 3,396 wards as part of its 15th General Convention.

The ward-level conventions were held in 43 districts on Saturday, the first of two days allocated by the party for ward-level conventions, according to the party.

The conventions elected ward committees and representatives for municipal, provincial assembly constituency, House of Representatives constituencies and district-level conventions.

According to Raju Katuwal, member-secretary of the Nepali Congress Central Election Committee, ward conventions were completed in Taplejung, Panchthar, Sankhuwasabha, Dhankuta, Solukhumbu, Udayapur, Jhapa, Morang, Mahottari, Ramechhap, Kavre, Sindhupalchok, Chitwan, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Kathmandu, Gorkha, Kaski, Manang, Parbat, Syangja, Baglung, Nawalpur, Palpa, Arghakhanchi, Gulmi, Rukum East, Rolpa, Pyuthan, Rukum West, Dolpa, Jumla, Mugu, Humla, Jajarkot, Dailekh, Surkhet, Doti, Achham, Darchula, Baitadi, Kanchanpur and Kailali.

The party had scheduled ward conventions for Saturday and Sunday under the 15th General Convention election calendar.

Katuwal said ward conventions in the remaining districts, excluding the flood-hit Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading, will continue on Sunday in line with the election schedule published by the Central Election Committee.

The ward-level conventions are the first stage of the party’s organizational election process leading up to its 15th General Convention. The process involves electing representatives and party committees at various levels before the general convention.
