Deepak Kumar Sah sworn in as industry minister

KATHMANDU: Newly appointed Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Deepak Kumar Sah has taken the oath of office.

President Ram Chandra Paudel administered the oath of office and secrecy to Sah amid a ceremony at the Office of the President on Thursday evening.

Sah replaces Gauri Kumari who tendered her resignation on Thursday afternoon.

President Paudel appointed Shah to the position on the recommendation of Prime Minister Balendra Shah under Article 76 (9) of the Constitution of Nepal, 2015, according to the Office of the President.

Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister Balendra Sah, National Assembly Chairperson Narayan Paudel and Chief Justice Manoj Sharma, as well as ministers and high-ranking government officials, were present on the occasion.

Sah was elected to the House of Representatives from the Sunsari-4 constituency.

A mechanical engineer by profession, Sah entered politics by joining CK Raut-led Janamat Party before the 2022 House of Representatives election. He later formed Jana Swaraj Party with other dissatisfied leaders of the Janamat Party.

After the party failed to get the Election Commission’s recognition, Sah formed Sarvodaya Party. The party merged with the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) just before the March 5 elections.
