BUTWAL: The Lumbini Provincial Assembly Secretariat has published a notice declaring the seat of Ambika Kafle, who was recently expelled by the Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) Nepal, vacant.
The notice was published under the direction of the Speaker in accordance with Subsection (2) of Section 35 of the Political Parties Act, 2016, and Rule 196 of the Lumbini Provincial Assembly Rules, 2022, as the provincial assembly is not in session.
The JSP Nepal’s Central Committee decided to expel Kafle from the position on September 4 based on a recommendation of the JSP Nepal Lumbini Provincial Assembly parliamentary party. The party had said that Kafle acted against the decisions of the party and parliamentary party despite being given repeated opportunities to provide clarification.
The party had notified the Lumbini Provincial Assembly Secretariat of the decision on the same day. Since the provincial assembly is not in session, the Speaker directed the secretariat to publish the notice on its notice board as per the existing law.
JSP Nepal had disciplined Kafle for acting against the decisions of the party and parliamentary party in connection with the whip issued by the party during Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya’s vote of confidence in the provincial assembly.
