KATHMANDU: The death toll from the devastating Bhotekoshi flood has reached 1,344.
According to the latest data released by Nepal Police, 4,898 people are still missing.
Of the 1,344 bodies recovered, 489 are men, 269 are women, 52 are boys and 33 are girls. Partial remains of another 501 people have also been recovered.
Of the 4,898 people reported missing, 2,930 are Nepali nationals and 618 are foreign nationals. Among the missing Nepalis, 2,448 are men and 482 are women. Police said they received reports of 1,350 people missing by phone.
A total of 8,631 people have so far been rescued alive from the flood-affected areas. Those rescued include 7,387 Nepalis and 1,244 foreign nationals. Meanwhile, 3,655 displaced people are currently being housed at various holding centers.
