Thailand provides 7 million baht in emergency assistance to Nepal

KATHMANDU: Thailand has provided 7 million baht (approximately Rs 32 million) in cash and emergency relief supplies to support victims of the devastating Bhotekoshi floods in Nepal.

Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul handed over assistance to Nepal’s Ambassador to Thailand, Dhan Bahadur Oli, at the Government House in Bangkok on Friday.

The assistance was provided based on Nepal’s list of priority needs, according to a statement issued by the Embassy of Nepal in Bangkok.

Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Oli thanked the Thai government and people for the humanitarian assistance. He said the support reflected the longstanding friendship, solidarity and close relations between Nepal and Thailand.

According to the Thai government, the cash contribution will be deposited into the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund, while relief supplies will be dispatched to Nepal at the earliest.

Prime Minister Charnvirakul also assured Nepal of Thailand’s continued cooperation in the coming days based on Nepal’s needs.
