KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index continued its upward momentum for a second straight session on Wednesday, closing 15.44 points higher at 2,538.11.
Although the index dropped initially, it recovered after hitting an intraday low of 2,513.7 points and remained in the green for the remainder of the session.
The market witnessed broad-based gains on Wednesday. Unit prices of 193 stocks advanced during the session, while 75 declined and 10 remained unchanged. Total turnover improved to Rs 2.94 billion, with 7.27 million units traded through 39,673 transactions.
Among individual stocks, Upakar Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd posted the highest gain of 11.87%. Next were Mathillo Mailungkhola Jalvidyut Ltd and Aatmanirbhar Nepal Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd with gains of 10.23% and 10.1%, respectively.
On the other hand, NMB Energy Bond 4% 2093/94 posted the largest loss of 5.81%. 10.5% EBL Deventure 2085 and RBB Mutual Fund 2 followed with losses of 4.97% and 4.33%, respectively.
Sanima Middle Tamor Hydropower Ltd topped the turnover chart on Wednesday with total transactions of Rs 141.78 million. NRN Infrastructure & Development Ltd and Solu Hydro Ltd were next with turnovers of Rs 126.46 million and Rs 121.46 million, respectively.
Two sub-indices posted losses, while the remaining 11 ended in the green on Wednesday. The Hydropower sub-index posted the biggest gain of 0.95%. Next were the Finance and the Others sub-indices with gains of 0.91% and 0.8%, respectively. On the other hand, the Mutual Fund and the Non Life Insurance posted nominal losses of 0.09% and 0.07%, respectively.g momentum in the final hour of trading.
