KATHMANDU: Twenty-four bodies have been recovered from a single house in Nuwakot district during an ongoing search for people missing after the devastating Bhotekoshi floods on August 26.
The bodies were found on Monday inside a house in Betrawati of Bidur Municipality-10, according to SP Bipin Regmi, chief of the District Police Office, Nuwakot.
“There are many bodies inside a single house. They could be pilgrims,” Regmi said.
Security personnel recovered 13 bodies of women and 11 of men from the house. One of the bodies was that of a child.
The sudden flood that struck at around 9 a.m. on August 26 caused extensive loss of life and property in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading districts. Search and rescue teams are still looking for people who remain missing.
More than 900 bodies had been recovered by Monday, while thousands of people remain unaccounted for, according to authorities.
