DHANGADHI: The situation in Dhangadhi has become tense as students take to the streets to protest the death of Chetana Saud (15) in a road accident.

Police have fired 20 rounds of teargas shells to disperse the angry crowd. The students took to the streets defying restrictions enforced by the local administration. The students have been demanding compensation to the family of Saud and action against the culprits.

Saud, who was going to school on a bicycle on Thursday morning, died on the spot after being hit by a grader belonging to Kalika Construction. Students of Panchodaya Secondary School, where Saud was studying, demonstrated throughout the day on Thursday and even prevented the police from recovering the body. The police managed to recover the body in the evening by enforcing restrictions.

Shivaraj Joshi, information office at the District Administration Office, Kaialali, said the restriction will continue until the situation becomes normal.
