KATHMANDU: The death toll from the devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi River has reached 547.
According to the latest data from the Nepal Police, 221 bodies have been recovered in Chitwan, 134 in Nawalparasi East, 44 in Gorkha, 40 in Dhading, 38 in Nuwakot, 29 in Tanahun, 28 in Nawalparasi West and 13 in Rasuwa.
A total of 4,473 personnel from the Nepal Police, 1,800 from the Nepal Police and 1,865 Armed Police Force (APF) are involved in search and rescue work.
Similarly, 1,467 people have been rescued or treated for injuries.
Meanwhile, 27 police personnel remain out of contact, while one missing police officer has been found dead.
Rescue workers have continued the search for the missing along the riverbanks in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, Chitwan, Tanahun, Nawalparasi East and Nawalparasi West districts.
