KATHMANDU: Bangladesh Ambassador to Nepal Md Shafiqur Rahman has proposed establishing an annual Bangladesh-Nepal Cultural and Creative Exchange Program to further strengthen people-to-people ties between the two countries.
Speaking at the inauguration of the “Ruposhi Bangla” International Photo Exhibition 2026 at Kathmandu Durbar Square on Thursday, Rahman said the proposed program could bring together photographers, filmmakers, musicians, artists, writers and other cultural practitioners from both countries.
He suggested that the program include joint exhibitions, cultural performances, film festivals, photography exchanges and workshops, with activities alternating between Bangladesh and Nepal.
The exhibition was jointly organized by the National Forum of Photo Journalists (NFPJ) Nepal and Bangladesh Photo Journalists Association (BPJA) as part of the Bangladesh-Nepal Photo Journalist Exchange Programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Rahman said photography is a powerful medium of communication and expression. He said holding the exhibition at the UNESCO World Heritage Site on World Photography Day offered Nepali audiences an opportunity to explore Bangladesh’s natural beauty, cultural heritage, historical landmarks and the everyday lives of its people.
He congratulated NFPJ and BPJA for organizing the exhibition and expressed hope that it would encourage greater interaction, two-way travel, professional cooperation and friendship between the peoples of Nepal and Bangladesh.
