DOLAKHA: About 50% of votes have been cast at 10 polling centers in Dolakha on Thursday. A total of 8,514 people were eligible to vote in these 10 centers.
According to Chief Election Officer of Dolakha, Dilli Ratna Shrestha, voting went peacefully at all 10 centers. “An all-party meeting is being convened to begin vote counting,” Shrestha added.
After studying complaints of booth capture and vote rigging during the election on November 20, the EC last week decided to go for repolling at polling centers ‘A’ and ‘B’ of Janajyoti Secondary School Polling Station and polling centers ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ of Kalidhunga Secondary School Polling Center in Baiteshwar Rural Municipality-1.
Similarly, re-voting was ordered at polling centers ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ of Baiteshwar Secondary School Polling Station in Baiteshwar-6, and polling centers ‘A’ and ‘B’ of Health Post Building Polling Center in Jafe of Tamakoshi Rural Municipality-3.
Dolakha has one constituency of the House of Representatives and two constituencies of Bagmati Province Assembly. Bal Krishna Shiwakoti of CPN-UML and Ganga Karki of CPN (Maoist Center) are contesting in the election for the House of Representatives. Karki is the common candidate of the five-party coalition.
Similarly, Nara Bahadur Shrestha of CPN-UML and Kundan Raj Kafle of Nepali Congress (NC), and Bharat Bahadur KC of UML and Burma Lama of UML are contesting in Dolakha (A) and (B) seats of Bagmati Province Assembly elections, respectively.
