KATHMANDU: Two of the ten climbers who went missing after an avalanche on Broad Peak in Pakistan on Thursday have been confirmed dead.
The Alpine Club of Pakistan said rescue workers have recovered the bodies of Nadhira Al Harthy of Oman and Pur Bahadur Gurung “Yukta” of Nepal. “Nadhira’s body has been recovered and is being transported by helicopter to Skardu. Arrangements for Yukta’s transport are underway,” it said in an Instagram post.
Renowned climber and owner of Elite Expeditions, Nirmal Purja, is among the missing.
Purja had joined an expedition to Broad Peak a few days after his successful summit of Gasherbrum II in Pakistan.
