KATHMANDU: The dissident faction of the Nepali Congress has assigned responsibilities to party leaders to mobilize various sister and affiliated organizations to ensure the success of a national gathering scheduled for August 14.
A meeting held at the party’s liaison office in Chundevi, Kathmandu, on Sunday decided to delegate coordination and mobilization tasks across different sectors to 10 leaders, according to the faction’s publicity committee coordinator Meen Bishwakarma.
As per the decision, Kundan Kafle has been assigned to mobilize the Nepal Students’ Union, while Jit Jung Basnet will oversee the party’s youth organization Nepal Tarun Dal. Usha Raut has been given responsibility for the Nepal Women’s Association, and Yamuna Bishwakarma Khadka will mobilize the Nepal Dalit Association.
Similarly, Ganesh Timilsina has been tasked with mobilizing the Nepal Farmers’ Association, Jagat Baram will oversee the Federation of Democratic Indigenous Nationalities, and Kiran Poudel will coordinate with the Nepali People’s Liaison Committee.
Mohan Bahadur Basnet will look after the mobilization of the Kathmandu District Liaison Committee and the sports sector, while Meen Bishwakarma will coordinate with the mobilization of intellectual organizations. Harisharan Nepali has been assigned to coordinate with the trade unions.
The meeting also decided to form additional committees as needed to mobilize other sister and well-wisher organizations.
Preparations for deploying central representatives to the national gathering have entered the final stage. Bishwakarma said the list of representatives is being finalized and will be completed by Wednesday.
The dissident faction said the gathering aims to strengthen internal democracy within the party, deliberate on policy reforms, and chart the party’s future course.
