KATHMANDU: Spain booked their spot in the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup final with a convincing 2-0 semifinal victory over France in Dallas on Wednesday morning.
The 2010 champions scored in either half of the match to surprise France which had exhibited their attacking prowess by scoring 16 goals in six matches. However, Spain, known for their disciplined defence controlled the play with ease.
Mikel Oyarzabal opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute of the match. Spain were awarded the penalty after Lucas Digne brought down Lamine Yamal inside the box.
Pedro Porro netted Spain’s second in the 58th minute as he slotted in the near post after a beautiful one-two with Dani Olmo.
Spain will meet the winner of the second semifinal between Argentina and England in the final in New Jersey on Sunday night.
