Talks with PM Shah positive: Lamichhane

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane on Tuesday said he had held positive and fruitful discussions with Prime Minister Balendra Shah on national politics, the country’s future direction, and other contemporary issues.

Speaking to reporters outside the House of Representatives on Tuesday afternoon, Lamichhane said he had advised the Prime Minister to make the steps initiated to resolve the landless squatters’ issue more effective.

Responding to a query on whether the government should initiate action against those accused of intimidating media outlets by parking vehicles outside their offices, he said the party remains firm in its stance that the incident should be investigated and everyone involved should be brought to book.

“We have already made the party’s official position on the issue clear through a press statement,” he said. “Anyone involved in the incident, regardless of whether he or she is an RSP leader or cadre, should face the necessary action.”

The two held one-on-one talks for nearly four hours at Lamichhane’s residence in Budhanilkantha on Sunday. The two also met before attending the House session on Tuesday, party sources say.
