KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML has urged Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal to issue a ruling to direct Prime Minister Balendra Shah to attend the House of Representatives meetings.
During a meeting of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, UML lawmaker Rajendra Kumar Rai called for a special ruling, stating that Prime Minister Shah has not been accountable to Parliament or the opposition. Rai said the Prime Minister must face the questions raised in Parliament and take the initiative to end the deadlock that has persisted for the past one and a half months.
Rai further said that the opposition disagrees with the views expressed by the Prime Minister from the rostrum. “Even though it has been weeks since we demanded clarification on his views, the Prime Minister has not appeared in the House,” Rai said. “The Prime Minister must attend House meetings and respond to our questions.”
He called on Speaker Aryal to issue a ruling, directing the Prime Minsiter to attend House meetings.
Rai warned that protests and obstruction would continue until the Prime Minister appears in Parliament and responds to the opposition’s questions.
