KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs Shishir Khanal has reached Beijing on a four-day official visit to China at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
According to the Embassy of Nepal in Beijing, Minister Khanal reached Beijing on Sunday afternoon. Charge d’affaires a.i. Roshan Khana and officials from China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed Khanal at the Beijing airport.
The Nepali Embassy is scheduled to host a reception in honor of Minister Khanal on Sunday evening. During the reception, he will also interact with members of the Nepali community living in China, according to the Nepali embassy in Beijing.
During the visit, Minister Khanal will hold official talks with his Chinese counterpart Yi. The two are expected to hold talks on strengthening Nepal-China relations, expanding bilateral cooperation and advancing high-level exchanges between the two countries.
Minister Khanal will also participate in an investment conference aimed at promoting foreign investment and will hold discussions with Chinese business leaders.
Khanal’s visit to China comes a week after his official visit to India. During the visit, Khanal said the new government led by Prime Minister Balendra Shah carries no old baggage, signaling new chapter in ties with India.
