Dailekh jeep accident leaves three dead, five injured

SURKHET: Three people died, and five others were seriously injured when a jeep travelling from Surkhet to Kalikot met with an accident in Bhairavi Rural Municipality of Dailekh on Monday.

The accident occurred at around 1 pm on an inner road section at Kali Gauda in Bhairavi. Police say the vehicle suffered a brake failure and fell about 400 meters off the road.

According to Santosh Rokaya, information officer at the District Police Office, Dailekh, said all the deceased are from Kalikot.

The deceased have been identified as Kal Bahadur Rokaya (36) of Shubha Kalika–5, Mitra Sunar (39) of Shubha Kalika–4 and Pultisara Bk (60) of Ward-6.

“All three were declared dead on arrival at Dailekh District Hospital,” Rokaya added.

Four of the injured, Chakra Sunar, Bharat Bk, Kalam Sunar and Nain Sunar, all from Shubha Kalika of Kalikot, are receiving treatment at the Dailekh District Hospital.

Sumat Nain, also from Shubha Kalika, has been referred to Karnali Provincial Hospital in Surkhet for further treatment.
