KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane is leaving for a two-day visit to India on June 1.

According to sources, Lamichhane is visiting India at the invitation of India’s Ministry of External Affairs.

During his stay in India, Lamichhane is expected to hold high-level meetings with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, among others.

He is also scheduled to meet office-bearers of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

BJP, India’s ruling party, had earlier extended a similar invitation for former CPN (Maoist Center) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal and former Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba in their capacity as leaders of the ruling parties.

Sources say Lamichhane has been invited in a similar capacity as the head of Nepal’s largest ruling party.
