CAN announces 14-member squad for 2026 Asian Games Qualifier

KATHMANDU: Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has announced a 14-member squad for the 2026 Asian Games Qualifier under the captaincy of Dipendra Singh Airee.

The 2026 Asian Games Qualifier will be held between May 31 and June 9 in Singapore.

A total of eight teams are participating in the qualifiers to be played in the T20 format. Nepal are in Group A alongside China, Qatar and Malaysia. Similarly, Group B consists of Oman, Hong Kong, Bahrain and Singapore.

Nepal will take on China on May 31, while they will meet Qatar on June 2, and Malaysia on June 4.

The two best-placed teams from each group will qualify for the semifinals and the 2026 Asian Games to be held in Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4. The final and third-place playoff will be played on June 8.

Five ICC full members – India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan – and hosts Japan have already qualified for the games.
