KATHMANDU: Police have arrested Ashish Shrestha, the chairperson of Nepal Microinsurance Company Ltd.
A team deployed by the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police arrested Shrestha, who hails from Minbhawan in Kathmandu-11, from Kageshwari Manahara-5 on Tuesday.
According to CIB, Shrestha was arrested based on a letter from the Nepal Insurance Authority (NICA)—the insurance sector regulator.
Nepal Microinsurance is among seven microinsurance companies allegedly licensed by the NIA under the influence of businessperson Deepak Bhatta.
Bhatta is currently in the custody of the CIB for a money-laundering investigation.
