KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Vice Chairperson and party’s parliamentary party leader, Ram Bahadur Thapa, has said that last September’s revolution, informally led by the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), was successful.
Speaking in the House of Representatives on Thursday, Thapa alleged that various actors were involved in shaping the outcomes of the March 5 elections. He argued that the decisive role was played by the Nepali Army, the bureaucracy, the interim government led by Sushila Karki, the Gauri Bahadur Karki Commission, and the Barbara Foundation.
Thapa also claimed that those who sought to burn the country and erase its national identity were portrayed as heroes.
He also called for an impartial investigation into the damage to public property, vandalism of infrastructure, and arson incidents of September 8 and 9 last year.
Likewise, he also objected to the arrest of UML Chairperson and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, and demanded their immediate release.
