Balendra Shah appointed Prime Minister

KATHMANDU: Balendra Shah has been appointed as the Prime Minister of Nepal.

President Ram Chandra Paudel appointed Shah, the leader of the party with a majority in the House of Representatives, as Prime Minister as per Article 76(1) of the Constitution of Nepal, 2015, according to a statement issued by the President of Nepal.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) unanimously elected Shah as the party’s parliamentary party leader.

Shah is scheduled to take the oath of office and secrecy from President Paudel later today.
