KATHMANDU: Balendra Shah has been elected as the leader of the parliamentary party of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).
A meeting of the RSP’s parliamentary party held at the party’s central office in Banasthali elected Shah as the leader of the parliamentary party and the party’s prime ministerial candidate.
RSP President Rabi Lamichhane tabled a proposal in the meeting to elect Shah as the parliamentary party leader. The proposal was passed unanimously.
Earlier, the party’s Central Committee also passed a proposal to elect Shah as the parliamentary leader.
This has paved the way for the former Kathmandu Mayor to become the country’s Prime Minister. He is scheduled to take the oath of office and secrecy on Friday.
