KATHMANDU: The identities of seven Indian nationals who died in a road accident in Gorkha district on Saturday evening have been established.
According to the District Police Office, Gorkha, the victims have been identified as Muthu Kumar (58), Ana Malik (58), Meenakshi (59), Sivagami (53), Vijayal (57), Meena (58), and Tamilarasi (60).
All of them died on the spot.
They died when a microbus fell off the road
at Kantar in Sahid Lakhan Rural Municipality–3. They were returning after offering prayers at the Manakamana Temple.
There were 16 on board the ill-fated microbus.
Police suspect the accident might have been caused by a brake failure.
Soranam (62), Mangada Jalam (65), Subhadra (75), Mayal (65), Saroja (73), Bhagyalakshmi (75), and Meenakshi (34) are receiving treatment at the Chitwan Medical College.
The driver, Pushpa Malla Thakuri (46), who hails from Besishahar Municipality–1 in Lamjung, escaped unharmed, while his assistant, Santosh Gurung (29) of Besishahar–3, sustained injuries, police say.
