GORAKHA: Sudan Gurung of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has been elected to the House of Representatives from Gorkha-1.
Gurung, who runs an NGO named Hami Nepal and was actively engaged in political negotiation following the September protests, secured 29,896 votes. His closest rival, Prem Khatri of the Nepali Congress (NC), received 15,398 votes.
Hariraj Adhikari of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) finished third with 11,124 votes, while Ram Chandra Lamichhane of the CPN-UML came fourth with 3,732 votes.
