KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has been elected to the House of Representatives from the Chitwan-2 constituency.

According to the final counting results published by the District Election Office, Chitwan, on Saturday, Lamichane received 54,402 votes. His closest contender Minadevi Kharel of Nepali Congres (NC) got only 14,534 votes.

Similarly, Ashmin Ghimire of CPN-UML and Pratap Gurung of Nepali Communist Party (NCP) received 6,992 and 4,969 votes, respectively.

This is Lamichane’s third parliamentary win from Chitwan-2. He was elected to the House of Representatives in 2022, receiving 49,261 votes. However, he was stripped of all elected positions following a ruling by the Supreme Court that he had not follow due process as prescribed in the law to re-obtain his Nepali citizenship after giving up his US citizenship.

Lamichhane reobtained the citizenship as per the prescribed rule and contested the byelection in 2023 which he won receiving 49,300 votes.
