China, India, US congratulate Nepal on successful election

KATHMANDU: China, India, and the United States have congratulated the people of Nepal on the successful conduct of the House of Representatives elections held on Thursday.

Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Zhang Maoming, praised the peaceful and orderly conduct of the election. He congratulated the Nepali people for exercising their democratic rights and commended the efforts of authorities and people from all sectors in ensuring a smooth election.

Ambassador Maoming expressed hope for Nepal’s continued stability, development, and prosperity, saying China will always stand with Nepal.

Similarly, Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for India’s Ministry of External Affairs, welcomed the successful conduct of the polls and the enthusiastic participation of Nepali voters. “We welcome the successful conduct of elections and the exercise of their democratic mandate by the citizens of Nepal,” he said in response to media queries during his scheduled media briefing on Thursday.

He also congratulated Prime Minister Sushila Karki, the Government of Nepal and the Nepali people for holding the elections under exceptional circumstances following last year’s developments. “We welcome the successful conduct of elections and the exercise of their democratic mandate by the citizens of Nepal. We congratulate Prime Minister Sushila Karki, the Government and the people of Nepal as well as various stakeholders, for successfully holding these polls, which took place against the backdrop of exceptional circumstances last year,” he said.

Jaiswal added that India looks forward to working with the incoming government to further strengthen the robust and multifaceted ties between the two countries.

The United States Embassy in Nepal has also congratulated the Nepali people. In a social media post on Thursday, the embassy said the US looks forward to working with the incoming government on shared goals of prosperity and security for both our countries.
