KATHMANDU: Voting that had been halted at the Golmeshwar Secondary School polling station in Tamakoshi Rural Municipality–4 of Dolakha has resumed after an all-party agreement was reached.

Assistant Chief District Officer Aulakh Bahadur Ale said voting has resumed after an agreement was reached with representatives from all political parties.

Police had fired shots in the air after a group attempted to assault election officials deployed at the polling station. Sources say the dispute began after some party representatives allegedly tried to manhandle the polling staff when an elderly voter was being guided through the voting process.

According to the District Administration Office, Dolakha, the situation at the polling station is now gradually returning to normalcy.

Officials say police fired two rounds into the air to control the situation after tensions escalated.
