NCP objects to spread of ‘fake content’ during silence period

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Communist Party (NCP) has objected to what it calls the spread of false content against the party and its candidates on various social media platforms during the election silence period.

Issuing a statement, the party’s Central Office Secretary, Ganeshman Pun, alleged that fabricated stories, misleading information, and manipulated videos are being deliberately circulated against the party’s candidates.

“We have repeatedly drawn attention to fake videos made to sound like the voice of the party’s Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal, but no action has been taken to stop them,” Pun said. “Forces that seek to set the country ablaze, kill innocent youths, and undermine the very existence of the nation are behind such smear campaigns.”

The NCP said in the statement that such activities constitute not only a violation of the election code of conduct but also a direct attack on democratic values and norms.
