Japan provides Rs 397.5 million election support

KATHMANDU: The Government of Japan has decided to provide financial support of Rs 397.5 million for the upcoming House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5.

The support is being extended through counterpart funds generated under Japan’s Food Assistance Projects, according to a statement issued by the Embassy of Japan on Tuesday.

According to the embassy, the funds will help update election management software, train election officials, and conduct voter education programs.

This year also marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Nepal.

The embassy expressed hope that the continued cooperation in Nepal’s electoral process will further strengthen the long-standing friendship and close ties between the two countries.
