Nepse closes 8.16 points lower as trading resumes after three days

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) closed 8.16 points lower as trading resumed after a three-day break on Monday.

Although the index briefly moved into the green during early trading, it lost momentum and eventually ended the session 0.3% down at 2,662.91 points.

Unit prices of 163 scrips declined during the session, while 86 advanced and nine remained unchanged. Three scrips, Buddhabhumi Nepal Hydropower, Reliance Spinning Mills, and Salapa Bikas Bank Ltd, hit the positive circuit of 10% during the session.

Ridi Power Company Ltd topped the turnover chart with Rs 650.32 million worth of shares traded. Ankhu Khola Jalavidyut Company Ltd and Ngadi Group Power Ltd were next with turnovers of Rs 523.61 million and Rs 482.78 million, respectively.

Total turnover fell to Rs 7.94 billion, down from Rs 10.9 billion in the previous session, with 19.61 million units traded through 80,559 transactions.

Among sectoral indices, three posted marginal gains while the remaining 10 ended the session in the red. The biggest loss came from the Hydropower sub-index, which was down 1.02%. Next were Trading and Investment sub-indices with losses of 0.68% and 0.6%, respectively.
